A soulful destination
Welcome to Namibia, a wondrous, vast space filled with swathes of golden sand, salty roads that seem to stretch on forever, shrubland, golden grasses, hardpans, mountains of rock and deep river gorges. Imagine a place so strikingly beautiful you could simply never stay long enough. A place where the stars seem to shine that much brighter and sunsets are a kaleidoscope of colours.
Places affectionately known as moon landscape, Spitzkoppe, Swakopmund and Sossusvlei conjure up images of an “other-worldly” place. It is bordered by Angola to the north, Zambia to the northeast, Botswana to the east, South Africa to the southeast and south, and the Atlantic Ocean to the west. Namibia has established several parks and reserves to celebrate and protect its rich plant and animal life including Etosha National Park, Skeleton Coast Park, Namib Naukluft Park, and Sperrgebiet National Park. |Ai-|Ais and Fish River Canyon Park, along Namibia’s southern border, merged with South Africa’s Richtersveld National Park in 2003 to form the |Ai-|Ais–Richtersveld Transfrontier Park.
Over millennia the Swakop River formed beautiful valleys known as moon landscape, a rugged and breathtakingly beautiful area. We have visited these valleys many times over the years and much like the dunes which transform in the wind, these moon landscape valleys seem to come alive with shadows during the course of the day. It is the kind of place that you simply just sit, alone with your thoughts, and wonder about the beauty of it all. Eerily quiet you can almost hear yourself think and on occasion you may find yourself whispering instead of raising your voice.
Moon landscape may look incredibly stark and rugged but there is in fact a very delicate side to it. Bathed in the glow of the moon or drenched in sunlight this is truly a soulful destination.
This is but one of the many beautiful locations in Namibia that makes any event an extraordinary occasion. Our guests spent a night dining under the stars enveloped in the soft glow of candle and lantern light. The welcome beat of the marimba band echoed off the valley walls while guests enjoyed welcome drinks and settled in to marvel at their surroundings. Beautiful tables were elegantly set for a memorable desert feast, while a fireplace crackled in the background. Canvas bedrooms were elegantly furnished and included fresh white linens and comfy duvets, just ready for a good night’s rest. After a delicious breakfast and much-excited banter guests enjoyed a delicious breakfast buffet before heading off to explore the dunes.
